i'm out at my mom's house because we spent mother's day with my in-laws and i wanted to come spend a little time with my mom and hay-no (neighbor lady named hazelle that i grew up with)...so i have no photos to support this post yet...but sea was referring to mother's day as mommy's happy day and i wanted to record that idea...
the day of we woke up earlier than i had planned but we were all excited to rush off to the ramate (ethnic pronunciation and incorrect spelling i'm sure) or flea market at ventura community college...got lots of fun things like socks, beach hats, kid's clothes and flip flops, a new skirt...ate snacks, walked around, sea rode on a pony...then we met our family for brunch that wasn't chaotic!! i have to add that because after waiting tables for 16 years and working nearly every mother's day brunch i swore i would never go out on that holiday myself. afterwards we hit up my favorite thrift store in oxnard...the one where i ALWAYS find something and was not let down...a tomato red skirt, new with tags...then off to play with the cousins...we ate some vegetarian menudo, got a super sweet iced coffee drink to share on the drive home and "hit the road, jack" as sea was singing...the children fell asleep immediately as i knew they would and manuel and i got to just talk about our lives and families and have quiet time with just the two of us...NICE mommy's happy day...trust yours was, too...i need an entire separate post on all the wonderful mommies in my life...which i suppose would be particularly appropriate on this blog dedicated to mommy journies...
